Amid the raucous cheers and impatient chanting of beer-drinking, bacon-wrapped hot dog-eating July 4th revelers, competitive eater Takeru Kobayashi took the stage at the First Annual Crif Dog Classic at Roberta’s Pizza in Brooklyn. Following a day full of softcore record setting, interviews with the judges, and live music–including appearances by Andy Suzuki &The Method, the Electric Mess, and others—the crowd was ready to see some hardcore hot dog scarfing.
