Tompkins Square Park Annual Halloween Dog Parade is at noon!  If last year is any indication, there will be some pretty awesome costumes this year!

Etsy is holding a fall crafts festival in Chelsea. 11am-4pm

Dance your way to health for free in the Ritz Plaza Park. 2-6pm

#RomneySalami part at Rebel tonight. We’re honestly not quite sure what this is but it sounds fun!  10pm.  

Sunday October 21

POP SOUKis finally here!  DJs, beer, and shopping galore at the Highline happens from 12-6pm.

For one of the “Only in NYC” experiences, head to Washington Square Park for a flashmob scheduled to prevent suicide.

FREE Andy Warhol lecture  at the Met will tell you all you need to know about the new exhibit.

There’s a new lady party in town: Blender.  Head out to Bar 13 for drink specials, DJS, live performance, and more!

Bright Lights and Howls at Stand Up NY

In a country where Netflix offers endless in-home entertainment, often replacing movie-going and…leaving the apartment, many get their fix of “live” comedy by watching stand-up on TV. I’ll tell you right now, it may be funny, and it may be comfortable, but it’s not the same as attending a stand-up show.

There’s something very special that happens with any sort of live performance: the lights are bright and the audience plays an active role in the show, fueling the performer with its collective energy. The camaraderie of shared experience brings the room together. At a comedy show in particular, the way a joke lands changes every show with every crowd.
