2012 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is finally here; fashionistas and the hottest designers are gathered together here in New York City. On Wednesday, September 5, 2012, the stars of Project Runway came out for the Season 10 “Wrap Party” hosted by Lord & Taylor.
Tim Gunn, Coco Rocha, and many more past and present Project Runway designers and stars came to Lord & Taylor on Fifth Avenue to celebrate the conclusion of another successful season.
Project Runway wouldn’t be where it is today without Tim Gunn. As he made his entrance to the red carpet, he was celebrated with montage of flashes from the cameras and press eagerly waiting with questions. Inside New York had a quick chat with a few of Project Runway’s fashion gurus:
INY: What do you see for in Project Runway‘s future?
Tim Gunn: I hope we have ten more seasons!
INY: How?
Gunn: Well, I taught for 29 years. Every semester I have whole new group of students and they all had different DNA, they had different chemistry among themselves, their work was always different, it was never even remotely similar. I feel the same way about Project Runway. Every season new designers, new DNA, new outcomes! It’s exciting.
INY: What fashion week runway show are you looking forward to the most?
Coca Rocha: Oh, that’s a hard question. I always love seeing Zac Posen be part of his collection and McQueen, Givenchy, They always have amazing concepts. Helmut Lang. It is very hard to choose. I can’t say one. I do have great relationship with Gaultier and Zac Posen as a model and as a friend so I always have to say them.
INY: What’s the Fall 2012 must have fashion item?
Mila Hermanovski, Mila’s Leggings.
INY: How do you see your life differently from when you were on the show and now? Any advice for the future contestants?
Hermanovski: Well, first of all. It changed your life forever. You get recognized when you go out and people always want to know what you are going to do next. And that’s also important and you are always going to be in the lime light with your collection. However it’s almost important, you must know your phones not going to ring the day after the show with buyers wanting to buy your stuff. It’s still a serious business. You have to hustle just as hard as everyone else to make it. It’s a big misconception. Your life changes because you are in public eye but it’s still hard work.
Other stars like Carrie Keagan, Tiki Barber, Korto Momolu, Eric Westpast, LaShwan Merrit, Phillip Bloch, Fran Drescher, Yaya DaCosta, and Bonnie Brooks, the president of Lord & Taylor added to the night’s excitement.
