Looks like you better buy a Metrocard; NYC taxi fares are going up by a whopping 17% starting in September.

Yesterday, during The VIllage Voice’s 4Knots Music Festival, a fire broke out at Manhattan’s South Street Seaport, under Pier 17. Luckily, it was put out quickly and no injuries were reported.

A group of former Occupiers have begun an “Occupy Summer Camp.” Held in a former Williamsburg schoolhouse, the camp has seen a small turnout so far as leaders continue to refine the premises.
