Shaquille O’Neal is big guy. A really, really big guy. An all-star and award winning basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers, he weighs 320 pounds and stands at a height of 7’1”, nearly doubling my shoe size with a mens’ 22. In curating the “Size DOES Matter” exhibit, now on display at the FLAG Art Foundation through May 27th, O’Neal demonstrates that he has a big eye for art as well. Read the complete post »

The food lives up to its name at Fatty ‘Cue, where every bite embodies nothing other than the richest flavor of delicious smoked fat. Sister restaurant to the renowned Fatty Crab, ‘Cue brings the Fatty “family” all the way to Brooklyn, offering their famous Southeast Asian cuisine with a funky BBQ flair.
The restaurant is located in the basement of a small building, with a bar and dining space on the bottom floor by the entrance. The remaining dining area, accessed through the kitchen, is on the upper two floors. The decor and ambiance are appropriately Williamsburg—minimal lighting, exposed brick walls, chic art and music. It’s often hard to find good late-night eateries near Columbia University. Most of the options are cheap, but mediocre: big-slice pizza at Koronet’s, Bombay Frankies at Roti Roll, the Spicy Special at 109 Deli and Grocery. However, for those who are willing to make a bit more of a trek—up to 107th and Columbus, to be exact—a new spot has just opened up that could be the best place to get delicious food, for under $10, after midnight.
