Riverbank State Park (Riverside Dr at 145th St). 212-491-1500. Wed-Thurs 5 30pm-10pm, Fri-Sat 5 30-11pm, Sun 11 30am-3pm. 1 to 145th. Average entrée $19.
Located on a lookout over the Hudson River, the comfy patio offers an unbeatable view of the George Washington Bridge ablaze with electric lights against the night sky—the perfect place to enjoy dinner or drinks with friends at sunset. The place is hardly packed, but devotees come for blaring live jazz, cocktails, and Southern flair. But a dining destination it isn’t. The pork chop has all the texture and nuance of a hockey puck and what the jerk chicken wings lack in tangy flavor they make up for in rivers of tongue-numbing hot sauce. However, the macaroni and cheese croquettes, seafood gumbo, and a vodka tonic can set you right. Though the food is a bit overpriced, the bill is a small pittance to pay for the marvelous view.
