This humble noodle shack serves delicious bowls of soup for dirt-cheap. Hand-pulled noodles, carefully stretched by hand and cooked to order, are the specialty of the house. The house special soup is a standout; the light beef broth is mildly flavored with cinnamon, leek, and star anise and filled with duck, beef, and fried egg in addition to the flavorful and hearty noodles. Locals who frequent this joint, far from the touristy bustle of Canal Street, know not to be shy with their soup—guzzling the flavor-packed broth straight from the bowl is customary, and a bit of gnawing and nibbling is always necessary for the oxtail soup.
